Kitchen & Screened Porch Addition
This client came to us with the hope of adding a screened porch to enjoy the outdoors and to create a larger kitchen and family room. The new design includes a kitchen island that serves as a central connecting point to the bathroom, living room, exterior, and screened porch. The sliding doors of the new screened porch are a perfect segue to the outdoors, and coupled with large windows, result in lots of natural lighting and seamless connectivity to the outside. Tubular skylights were also added to allow for more natural lighting in the interior spaces. A wood burning fireplace and ceiling mounted heat lamps now allow the family to enjoy the porch in winter. The ceiling fan helps keep the space comfortable in summer.
Across the main entrance of the house, a new glass door was added to create a more welcoming atmosphere as people first enter. The family prefers coming into the house through the new mudroom entry, shown above. The laundry was moved onto the main level and is now equipped with a doggie shower.
